Using Disk Management to allocate space. To allocate the unallocated space as a usable hard drive in Windows, follow these steps: Open the Disk Management console. Open the Control Panel. Open the Administrative Tools window. In Windows 7 and 10, choose System and Security and then choose Administrative Tools.
Make sure you have free or unallocated space on your computer. Make the unallocated space adjacent to the target partition: Unallocated space is not immediately behind the disk partition you need to extend, so that partition cannot be extended. And the Extend volume option will be greyed out. Hope it helps you. Unallocated space is blank disk space and does not belong to any partition, with which users can create a new volume or extend another partition. In most cases, users may want to move unallocated space to C drive Windows 10 for the following reasons: ★ Extend C drive. a. Go to Windows Search Box and open Computer Management. Go to Storage and double-click on Disk Management and you will see the unallocated drive.Step 1. Right-click "My computer"→"Management"→"Disk Management". Step 2. Right-click the unallocated space, choose "New Simple Volume" from the shortcut menu. Follow the wizard, and click "Next". Step 3. Set the size of the new volume by using the Simple Volume Size. Click "Next".
